I forgot to answer about that book, why I thought it was an oversimplification. Unquestionably, childhood abuse makes you feel lousy about yourself, but it can't take responsibility for everything that goes wrong in your life. I can relate, but childhood trauma cannot account for the fact that I'm a screw-up. It's a personality flaw. I either under think or over think everything. I'm either wildly impulsive or paralyzed. Can't blame that on my upbringing.
