Off we go to Ireland with the Sons tonight! 90 minute episode too :) Sorry to those of you who can't get it. I'm going to try and find something on the internet that can help you.

Kurt Sutter said a while ago that you can buy the episodes on ITunes. You guys checked that out as an option? I never have. Kurt said that if you must download it from the internet (which he wishes people wouldn't do but what's one to do if it doesn't play in their country???), buying it off ITunes is the way that is least harmful to the actors, writers etc.

I'll be honest, I don't quite get how that works. I don't understand how me watching the Sons on the internet for free (when I CAN'T get it on my own tv) hurts the industry. Does anyone understand that? I'm sure I'm missing something.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph!!! Good start for the episode. They didn't actually film in Ireland, did they? I'm thinking they filmed it against a backdrop, because no place is that green but the emerald isle.

I know that they did send a crew to Ireland to film some stuff. I'm not sure the main cast went though.

Is it good??? I can't see it online until it's done airing so I won't see it until late tonight.

Well...what did you guys think? I wasn't able to get it via computer last night so I'll probably watch it tonight.

Was it exciting...did the plot move forward? Did they find Able???????

Nope, I don't understand that either, Patti, but maybe there's someone on here who can enlighten us? After all, I'm sure most fans of the series will buy the DVD when it's released anyway, because if you love the show, you're going to want to watch it more than once, aren't you? Plus, on the DVD's you usually get extras, like cast interviews, behind-the-scenes stuff, etc.

The problem with downloading from the internet is that the cast, crew, writers etc. probably don't get any financial benefit from it.
So there are no residuals, percentages etc.
The internet is such relatively new medium that it is just startring to be addressed in the performing union contracts-its a very BIG issue right now.

I wonder if it is also because there is no way to track people watching (i.e. Nielson ratings). I know Kurt Sutter talks about the statistics they get regarding demographics of people watching and the percentage of the viewing audience they drew etc. That is directly tied to advertising dollars.

But again...in my case, I have no legitimate way to watch it that could even be counted in those statistics. So...I'm not going to worry about it or feel the need to send Ron a check for $5 for every episode I watch :D

And...I do buy the DVD's

I went to Itunes and checked it out. You can download the episodes but they cost $2.99 each.
So they must have worked out a deal with Fox even if its for a nominal amount.

I believe you have to have ITunes downloaded on your computer in order to view them.
